"Poetry is the silent voice that is heard everywhere else inside of us..." Unknown
ODE - Forge by ManYou are what they say you are
The death of many men, the 5 by 7 millimeter user
Forge by the hand of man, you are their greatest advancement over the centuries
After every war, after every decade you have not stop
Why how could you they're man.
You were just a mer bow and arrow at first
but you have grown
Now you're metal, aluminum, iron, copper
Equipped to everything, even a chopper
From single to semi and auto to burst
I do admire thee.
Sonnet - Oh My Mr. Robot
Oh Mr. Robot how are you alive
I want that knowledge that that you have obtain
You consume little to none to thrive
That metal plating have you look insane
But small as you are, who he's little king
Wealth is all that you have carried with you
Oh having all that makes you think you have bling
Below your torso is what you call shoe
That shinny metal reflects of your face
I see you be the enemy i seek
Like a chicken in the pen, face my mace
I seek knowledge not war so maybe meek
I do not adore thee except the gold
You have acquire from your giant mold.
Memory Poem - My Rainy Day
The clouds were still miserable
Just crowd around me with your tears
Bumping against my hair and shoulders if I was attacked by a swarm.
Engage me with your might, strike upon me
The effects of your weapon was only the destruction after the light
Destroy my eardrums I don’t care
That bang you created I know was just the beginning
But I don’t care; I’ll just enjoy the pleasures of my survival.
Little by little your tears hit my tongue
Nothing-just plain even a little bit filling
The things surrounding me as soon as I entered my house
Smoke the burning sensation
I went over and prayed adding with a blessing.
-My Poetry
My poems are based on everything I adore and enjoy in life. Things such as Robots, guns, and appropriate weather that just really make my day are the inspiration that I had for my poems. My poems incorporates personification, giving the objects or surrounding I’m referring to, real life characteristics and descriptive lines trying to give the readers an image of the things I love in my life. My poems are not amazing but it shows a lot of work and revision so that everyone may understand what’s going on. My ode and memory poems are mainly free verse and even thought they’re free verse to my opinion it just feels right. The descriptive wordplay feels as if it belongs and makes this poem somewhat worth reading, telling many things about me and who I am inside.
Donald Hall:
The painted bed
"Even when I danced erect
by the Nile’s garden
I constructed Necropolis.
Ten million fellaheen cells
of my body floated stones
to establish a white museum."
Grisly, foul, and terrific
is the speech of bones,
thighs and arms slackened
into desiccated sacs of flesh
hanging from an armature
where muscle was, and fat.
"I lie on the painted bed
diminishing, concentrated
on the journey I undertake
to repose without pain
in the palace of darkness,
my body beside your body."
White Apples
when my father had been dead a week
I woke
with his voice in my ear
I sat up in bed
and held my breath
and stared at the pale closed door
white apples and the taste of stone
if he called again
I would put on my coat and galoshes
Safe Sex
If he and she do not know each other, and feel confident
they will not meet again; if he avoids affectionate words;
if she has grown insensible skin under skin; if they desire
only the tribute of another’s cry; if they employ each other
as revenge on old lovers or families of entitlement and steel—
then there will be no betrayals, no letters returned unread,
no frenzy, no hurled words of permanent humiliation,
no trembling days, no vomit at midnight, no repeated
of a body floating face-down at the pond’s edge
My Analyst of all Three Poems
Donald Hall’s poems are based towards the reader internally. Providing real moments in which can relate to some extraordinary people who have faced these complications or agony. His writing style is clear and descriptive, to give perspectives and information so that anyone who reads it might understand and relate more. In the poem safe sex he explains everything, what his poem is about and really how it relates to the title. "They will not meet again" to "no repeated of a body floating face-down at the pond’s edge" talks about the main idea of this poem how it really is safe sex. White apples are his poem that speaks about more than just his dead father but to show how he misses him. To my understanding I think it’s to relate to other people who have faced with people around them dying. That they should just almost let go because “I sat up in bed and held my breathand stared at the pale closed door”, was speaking as thou his dad kept coming back that he can’t forget about his dad. But he should not tear and just face it from “if he called again I would put on my coat and galoshes”. In the third poem of his that I selected was The Painted Bed. It speaks about death how a person may in death lay in this bed and rides this river to where the dead belongs. Donald Hall's poems aren’t amazing but it just give important information about life how to make it better, relating to the readers to get them involves.
